Event Description

Out of an abundance of caution, and in accordance with the City of San Francisco’s recommendation of postponing or canceling large gatherings over the next two weeks (see note below), the members of Burning Man Project’s Community Events team have decided to cancel this weekend’s Burnal Equinox, scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2020.

This community event, which marks the mid-point in the year between the annual events in Black Rock City, is supported each year by well over 100 volunteers, including artists, theme camps and performers. Burning Man Project invited input from Community Events volunteers regarding whether to proceed with or cancel this year’s edition. Our team has been closely monitoring updates and recommended public health practices related to COVID-19 and feels it is important to join efforts to reduce any possible exposure.

Presale tickets will be refunded to those who have purchased them. It may take several business days for the refunds to be reflected in your credit card or bank account. We are considering options for rescheduling this event in the future, but in the meantime, Public Works will be hosting a smaller, unaffiliated event this weekend. If you are planning to go out, please consider supporting the venue and enjoying the company of others while taking appropriate precautions.

This announcement pertains only to San Francisco Burnal Equinox and is not related to any other Burning Man Project events or to any activities within the Regional Network.

If there is a shining light here it is that we have proof just how interconnected people are globally and that it is through working together that we can and will address the challenges of our time.
